Job Description
Compassion for Migrant Children (CMC) is a nonprofit organization based in China which is dedicated to improving the lives of children of migrant workers by engaging them in social and educational programs.
This position is responsible for the coordination and management of the Life-Vocational Skills Training (LVS) Program. As the lead CMC staff member in the community, it also involves managing the center to ensure efficient and effective support for the various programs and activities held at the center. It is based within the migrant community at the appointed CMC Community Center each weekday.
LVS Responsibilities
Program Development, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation
Plan, organize, implement and manage the LVS program
Be responsible for ensuring LVS program meeting its quarterly and annual target goals
Ensure the proper monitoring and evaluation of the LVS program
Create and manage a class schedule that balances and emphasizes both life skills and vocational training
Ensure that each class is meeting targeted goals and continue to seek ways to improve the quality of each class
Develop partnerships for organizations and companies to provide instructors and speakers to stimulate and inspire LVS trainees
Manage and recruit volunteers
Research and seek out new pools of migrant youth for LVS recruiting
Recruit trainees, including interviewing and evaluating potential trainers/trainees, overseeing trainee enrollment and orientation
Mentor trainees to help them achieve their goals in practically engaging life
Liaise with the Regional Program Manager to address needs and challenges that arise
Develop partnerships for trainee job placement
Develop channels for continued follow up of trainees for up to 1 year after trainees graduate from LVS
Financial Management
Familiarize self with CMC financial guidelines
Develop and manage LVS budget
Create LVS Expense Reports
Promotion
Gather and prepare LVS-related information for promotional use
Coordinate LVS promotional events and meetings
Research and Development
Research migrant youth trends and make necessary adjustments so that LVS can continue to be ahead of the curve
Community Center Responsibilities
Be an active member of the community center team and participate in community center development and activities, including community celebrations, home visits,
Ensure the smooth operation of the community center with special focus on the LVS facility
To ensure that all aspects of the Center Operation Procedures are fully implemented
Ensure high standards of facility and equipment maintenance
Be fully familiar with all property appliances and service contracts
Coordinate and cooperate with Logistics Manager to fulfill all purchasing, servicing, and updating of the LVS facilities

Reporting to: Regional Programs Manager
Peers: CMC Staff
Reported to by: Trainers of LVS Trainees, LVS Staff

Qualifications
B.A. in Education, Sociology, Social Work, or Psychology
Minimum 5 years related work experience
Able to manage multiple projects and responsibilities at once; ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work easily and effectively with a wide range of people
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and quality
Key Skills & Abilities
Native Mandarin language skills
Good professional communication skills in English
Experience mentoring or working with older youth a plus
Experience in working in a professional atmosphere
Proficiency with MS Office Suite especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Other
Ability to be flexible
Ability to work independently as well as in a dynamic team
Passion and personal interest in people and providing assistance
Experience and interest in working with migrants and minorities is a plus
